Hyaluronidase PH-20 is also known as Sperm adhesion molecule 1 (SPAM1) and Sperm surface protein PH-20, which belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 56 family, SPAM1 / PH-20 is expressed in testis. SPAM-1 / PH20 random hydrolysis of (1->4)-linkages between N – acetyl – beta – D – glucosamine and D-glucuronate residues in hyaluronate. SPAM-1 / PH20 involved in sperm-egg adhesion. Upon fertilization sperm must first penetrate a layer of cumulus cells that surrounds the egg before reaching the zona pellucida. The cumulus cells are embedded in a matrix containing hyaluronic acid which is formed prior to ovulation. SPAM1 aids in penetrating the layer of cumulus cells by digesting hyaluronic acid.
CAS:
37259-53-3
INCI Name:
Hyaluronidase
Benefits:
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can hydrolyze hyaluronic acid. When used in the human body, it can temporarily reduce the viscosity of the intercellular substance, and can promote the diffusion of subcutaneous infusion, locally accumulated exudate or blood to facilitate absorption. It is an important drug diffusion agent. It is clinically used as a drug penetration agent to promote the absorption of drugs and promote the dissipation of local edema or hematoma after surgery and trauma.
Use:
Specific activity > 12,000 IU/mg
Appearance:
Colorless to pale yellow clear liquid.
Solubility:
Water-soluble.
Storage:
Samples are stable for up to six months from date of receipt at -20 centigrade and are stable for two months at 4 centigrade.
Applications:
Hyaluronidase is a family of enzymes that degrade hyaluronic acid (HA). It is found to increase vascular permeability and temporarily disrupt the extracellular matrix, promoting diffusion of substances through tissues. Alongside its applications in ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, musculoskeletal medicine, radiology and drug and fluid administration, hyaluronidase has a number of roles in the field of plastic surgery. Hyaluronidase appears to be a very safe, cheap and effective medication for a variety of uses in the field of plastic surgery and beyond.
