Customized Cosmetic Peptides

The various physiological processes in the human body are almost all regulated by peptides or proteins composed of specific amino acid sequences. Bioactive peptides have become a new direction and idea for the development and application of cosmetics, and their functions are becoming more and more subdivided, such as: anti-aging, anti-allergic, repair, anti-oxidation, anti-edema, promote hair regeneration, inhibit melanin production, breast enhancement, weight loss, etc.

General cosmetic peptides are divided into four categories: signal peptides, carrier peptides, neurotransmitter inhibitory peptides and enzyme inhibitory peptides.

Signal peptide

Signal peptide

Signal peptides are generally added to skincare products due to they can stimulate skin fibroblasts to produce more collagen, elastin, and other proteins in the dermal matrix, thereby making the skin firmer and fuller. GHK (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) is a typical cosmetic signal peptide, its functions as a complex with copper 2+ which accelerates wound healing and skin repair. Other common signal peptides include Palmitoyl Tripepitde-5, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Palmitoyl Dipeptide-6, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide/Palmitoyl Hexapeptide).

Carrier peptide

Carrier peptide

Carrier peptides are able to provide trace elements such as copper and magnesium, which aid in wound repair and enzymatic processes. These trace elements have been proven to improve the synthesis of pro-collagen and increase skin elasticity.

Neurotransmitter inhibitory peptide

Neurotransmitter inhibitory peptide

Neurotransmitter inhibitory peptides can inhibit the release of acetylcholine through various chemical interactions, that are usually regarded as anti-wrinkle acvitive ingredients and used in cosmetics. Some in vivo research data indicate that these peptides can reduce wrinkles by about 30%. Common ones are: Pentapeptide-3, Pentapeptide-18

Enzyme Inhibitor Polypeptide

Enzyme Inhibitor Polypeptide

Enzyme inhibitor polypeptides reduce the breakdown of collagen and other proteins by inhibiting enzyme activity. For example, some enzymes (such as matrix metalloproteinases) can degrade structural proteins such as collagen. Peptides derived from rice protein can inhibit the activity of MMP enzymes, thereby maintaining more collagen. Peptides from soy protein can also work. They may inhibit the growth of hair and reduce the function of pigmentation. Common types of Dipeptide-2, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5, Oligopeptide-20.
